WHAT IS NESIN ART VILLAGE?
Nesin Art Village (NAV) is an innovative art program that was launched in 2015 by the alternative education initiative developed at Nesin Mathematics Village (NMV). NMV is located at Şirince-İzmir and was established in 2007. NAV aims to maintain an approach that focuses on criticality and independent production processes. It wants to offer a learning environment for young people from around Turkey, through workshops and seminars to be carried out by artists, academicians, writers and curators.
The aim of the workshop is to use different algorithms and techniques to create machines which create art works.
No specific skills are required. The workshop will start with basic coding examples, after that inspirational artworks will be discussed and similar projects will be created. Through the end of the workshop, some physical tools and examples will be realized.
You can see some examples as the outcome of the workshop.
This program brings together participants from different backgrounds and aims at constructing a collective thinking and production platform to investigate spatial practices, while supporting the participants in their collective working skills. It provides information and awareness about providing better living environments and how to encourage it. It opens up a forum for discussion and questions the spatial discourse, connects a variety of disciplines that are close to one another but do not traditionally act together.
